The idea of “Fate” comes from Tschaikowsky himself, referring particularly to the first movement of this landmark symphony. While his sentiments were not particularly happy at the time, the work suits our purpose of closing out the season with excitement and vigor! We’ll also be returning to featuring the winner of the MacPhail concerto competition, with the work to be announced. Lastly, Carlos Simon is becoming an important voice in American music today with his Four Black American Dances tracing the roots of Black American culture and music, filled with jazz and gospel influences.
